Sarasota Memorial Hospital will be conducting the first of three overnight concrete pours for its North Port campus project on Tuesday, May 5, beginning at 1 a.m. Additional overnight pours are planned for May 13 and May 26.

For overnight operations, traffic control will include:

  • Coordination with the North Port Police Department detail team
  • A dedicated flagman on-site to manage movement and safety
  • Cement trucks staged on-site to minimize disruption
  • Dispatching trucks in controlled intervals (two at a time every 15-30 minutes)

The pours are necessary to maintain the project schedule, ensure proper concrete curing time and conditions in Florida's climate and minimize traffic congestion and safety impacts along Sumter Boulevard during peak daytime areas. The City Commission approved SMH's request to conduct this work at its Jan. 13, 2026, meeting.
