Washington, D.C. - For the second time in less than six months, a federal judge has overturned the construction halt issued by the Trump administration on the Revolution Wind project in Rhode Island. Trump's first stop work order attemptwas overturned in September 2025.
Revolution wind is already over 80 percent complete. Once finished, Revolution Wind has the potential to power 350,000 homesin Rhode Island and Connecticut. The project has created 1,200 stable, well-paying jobsin the region.
Trump's Department of the Interior had halted construction on all five offshore wind projectsunderway in the United States in December. The pauses impacted Revolution Wind, as well as Vineyard Wind 1, Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind, Sunrise Wind and Empire Wind 1.
In response, Sierra Club Senior Advisor Nancy Pyne issued the following statement:
"Trump's clean power cancel culture is senseless and, as repeatedly proven in court, illegal. The offshore wind industry is capable of providing good, local jobs and reliable energy without the volatility of gas and fossil fuel prices, meaning steady, affordable energy costs for Americans."
Sierra Club Connecticut Chapter Director Samantha Dynowski added:
"Yet again, Connecticut workers can get back to work on this local project nearly ready to provide our communities and neighbors with clean, affordable energy. Completing Revolution Wind will lower pollution, improve the health for vulnerable groups, and, critically, lower energy bills. Connecticut residents need this project cross the finish line."
