Pasadena Rent Stabilization Department Launches “Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor” Community Outreach Series

PASADENA, Calif - The City of Pasadena's Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) is bringing housing support directly into the community with the launch of Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor, a new outreach series designed to make housing counseling more accessible and approachable for residents.

Beginning February 2026, the free drop-in events will take place at various community locations throughout Pasadena, offering a convenient, no-appointment-needed opportunity to meet one-on-one with RSD Housing Counselors. Attendees can ask questions about rental housing, learn about their rights and responsibilities under local rent stabilization laws, and receive personalized guidance, all while enjoying complimentary coffee and snacks.

"We know that getting to our office during regular business hours is not always convenient for everyone," said Helen Morales, Director of the Rent Stabilization Department. "Chats & Snacks is about reducing barriers and meeting residents where they are. By creating a welcoming space, we hope to make it easier for tenants and landlords alike to ask questions and get the support they need."

The series is open to tenants, landlords, and community members seeking information about rental housing topics, which may include rent increases, tenant rights and responsibilities, landlord obligations, and available resources that support housing stability. If a question falls outside the department's direct scope, Housing Counselors will provide referrals to appropriate community resources.

The inaugural Chats & Snacks event will be held in partnership with Friends In Deed, a local nonprofit organization serving Pasadena residents. Future events will be hosted at various community facilities across the city to ensure broad accessibility.

  • Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
