President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili held a one-on-one meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the agenda for bilateral relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan. Particular attention was devoted to the conclusion of a Strategic Partnership Agreement, which is expected to elevate relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.
The discussion also covered economic cooperation, the prospects for the development of the Middle Corridor and the strengthening of coordination within international frameworks. In this context, the parties highlighted the opportunities that the strategic partnership offers both for advancing bilateral relations and for enhancing connectivity between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
According to the President, Georgia regards Uzbekistan as a reliable partner and a friendly nation with which it shares mutual respect, common interests, and a strong commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation.
President Mikheil Kavelashvili expressed his gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for Uzbekistan's steadfast support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its firm adherence to the policy of non-recognition. He also conferred upon President Mirziyoyev the Order of the Golden Fleece, a state decoration of Georgia awarded to foreign nationals who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of the Georgian state.
