The World Employment Confederation (WEC), represented by Minna Melleri ,WEC Execuitve Director, together with Mohamed El Derwy, WEC Board Member for the Middle East, met a delegation of Egypt's Ministry of Labour led by H.E. Hassan Radad, Minister of Labour. The two sides agreed a framework to position Egypt as a regional reference for modern, inclusive and well-governed labour markets, building on the country's new Labour Law No. 14 of 2025.

The partnership rests on four pillars: WEC technical input into the National Employment Strategy; a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with four joint technical working groups; a national awareness programme on regulated employment services and workers' rights; and the consolidation of European support through the EU Talent Partnerships and the THAMM Plus programme - advancing fair recruitment and formal employment corridors for Egyptian workers toward Europe and the Gulf.

In recognition of Egypt's growing role in labour-market governance, WEC invited the country to be Guest of Honour at its World Employment Conference in Rome on 13-14 April 2027 - held in the Confederation's 60th anniversary year - with the Minister of Labour invited to deliver a keynote address on Egypt's experience in labour-market regulation and skilled-labour mobility.

Speaking after the meeting, WEC representatives said:

  • Mohamed El Derwy, "Egypt has produced one of the most integrated employment-policy frameworks in the region, and WEC is committed to supporting its implementation."
  • Minna Melleri , "Aligning national practice with the WEC Code of Conduct will strengthen fair recruitment and build confidence among international partners."
  • Emad Nasr, Labour Counsel & Patricia Mianao Senior PA Advisor attend the meeting .
