PROVIDENCE, RI - Governor Dan McKee and Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green today announced the return of Math Matters RI with the RI STEAM Expo, taking place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Providence Career & Technical Academy, 41 Fricker Street, Providence.

Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, the RI STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) Expo continues Rhode Island's statewide Math Matters RI initiative, reinforcing the state's commitment to student engagement, advancing math skills, and promoting academic achievement.

"My administration is proud to once again bring Rhode Island together to celebrate math and learning," said Governor Dan McKee. "By supporting our students today, we are strengthening the future of our state. Learning matters every day, in every home, and we will continue to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed."

"Math Matters RI is about creating joyful, meaningful learning experiences that encourage students to show up, stay engaged, and thrive," said Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. "By bringing families, educators, and community partners together to celebrate the power of math, we are strengthening student learning and promoting long-term success. We invite families from across Rhode Island to join us for this celebration."

The RI STEAM Expo is free and open to all students, families, and educators. It will feature fun, engaging, hands-on activities designed to make math exciting and accessible for learners of all ages. Activities will include interactive math games, interactive STEAM exhibits, raffles, free food, and opportunities for families to explore how science, technology, engineering, the Arts, and math connect to rewarding careers and everyday problem-solving.

In addition to student and family activities, the event will offer professional learning opportunities for educators, including workshops focused on high-quality math instruction and effective classroom practices. Educators attending eligible sessions may earn Professional Learning Units (PLUs).

The RI STEAM Expo will include participation from statewide education leaders, community organizations, and partners committed to advancing math achievement and student success.

Community members are encouraged toRSVP in advance through Eventbrite. A full schedule of programming will be available soon.
