Finance Committee Democrats Demand Robert Kennedy's Resignation

Washington, D.C. - Members of the Senate Finance Committee called on Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to resign from his position as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services today, as he continues to push his dangerous anti-health and science agenda, lie to Congress, and push disinformation on American families.

"Robert Kennedy was unfit to serve as the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services before he was on the job, which is why every Democratic member of the Senate Finance Committee opposed his nomination," the members said. "The actions Robert Kennedy has taken since he was sworn in reinforce the danger he poses to the health of America.

"By discarding well-established science related to vaccines, elevating conspiracy theorists and self-interested charlatans to positions of public trust, and presiding over the largest cut to American health care in history, Robert Kennedy has reinforced every fear families had about him.

"Robert Kennedy has failed to protect the health of the American people and endangers the lives of all Americans, particularly children, people with disabilities, and vulnerable Americans. Robert Kennedy must resign, and if he doesn't, Trump should fire him before more American families are hurt by his reckless disregard for science and the truth."

Members joining the statement include Senators Ron Wyden, D-Ore., Michael Bennet, D-Colo., Mark Warner, D-Va., Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Tina Smith, D-Minn., Ben Ray Luján, D-N.M., Raphael G. Warnock, D-Ga., Peter Welch, D-Vt., and Maria Cantwell, D-Wash.
