NDOT to Host Events for ‘Transportation Demand Management’ Week

In an effort to spread awareness on the range of transportation options available for commuters in Middle Tennessee, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) and Nashville Connector are hosting two events to celebrate Transportation Demand Management Week. Transportation Demand Management (TDM) is the use of policies and strategies to maximize the efficiency of transportation systems leading to improved mobility, reduced congestion, and lower vehicle emissions.

The events will be held on September 16th and September 18th at the Riverfront Station in downtown Nashville. Details are as follows:

  • Chains, Trains, (No) Automobiles on Tuesday, September 16 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice putting their bike on a WeGo Bus and the WeGo Star Train. Attendees will also be able learn more about the Nashville Connector, WeGo Public Transit, and Bike Fun.
  • Group Bike Ride Lunch & Learn on Thursday, September 18 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Free lunch will be provided, and B-Cycle e-bikes will be available upon request.

To encourage participation in TDM Week, NDOT has also partnered with Bird, Lime, and Spin to provide riders with two free trips up to 10 minutes from September 15th through September 19th. Use the promotional code TDMWEEK to activate the free rides.

For the month of September, Nashville Connector is also promoting the usage of more sustainable modes of transportation through its Commuter Challenge. Residents and commuters can track their sustainable trips through a commute tracking app for the month for the chance to win an e-bike, e-scooter, and gift cards through their raffle. Additionally, all users who track at least 10 sustainable trips through the commute tracking app each month earn a $20 e-gift card.
