Construction Update for Gold Country Corridor

Placer/Nevada Counties - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane closures in multiple locations along State Route 49 (SR 49) and State Route 20 (SR 20) as several projects continue in Placer and Nevada counties.

Here is the breakdown for next week:

SR 20 Projects:

• Pavement Rehabilitation Project
  • Between Bowman Lake Road and the junction with Interstate 80 (I-80), one-way traffic control is scheduled around the clock from 7 p.m. Sunday, July 12 through 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16.
  • Between Dow Road and Harmony Ridge Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16 to noon Friday, July 17.
• Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project
  • Eastbound SR 20 is closed between the Omega Scenic Overlook and the junction with I-80 through 9 a.m. Friday, July 17. Motorists looking to connect to I-80 will detour southbound on SR 49 to connect with I-80 in Auburn or southbound on State Route 174 to connect with I-80 in Colfax. Large trucks are directed to only use SR 49.
  • The SR 20 on-ramp to westbound I-80 remains closed until further notice due to bridge construction activities.

SR 49 Projects:

• Corridor Improvement Project between McKnight Way and La Barr Meadows/Allison Ranch Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 8 p.m. Sunday, July 12 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 13 and from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 6 a.m. Friday, July 17.
• Sidewalk Gap Closure Project
  • Northbound between Education Street and Dry Creek Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, July 12 through Thursday, July 16. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 7 a.m. Friday, July 17.
  • Southbound between Luther Road and Elm Avenue/Fulwiler Avenue, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, July 12 through Thursday, July 16. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 7 a.m. Friday, July 17.

The extended lane closures will help minimize the duration of the work and improve worker safety. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
