Caltrans Completes the U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve) Weekend Work Ahead of Schedule

All Northbound & Southbound Lanes Reopened and Accessible to Motorists

San Francisco County ― Caltrans reopened all U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve) lanes today as of 1:03 a.m., in the city of San Francisco. Lanes had been partially closed since Friday, August 21 at 11 p.m. to allow crews to perform crucial drainage installation work as part of the Fab 4 Hospital Curve Rehabilitation projects which began in Fall 2025.

With the completion of new drainage installations today, motorists will experience safer roads which are less prone to flooding during wet and rainy weather conditions. This work completion also prepares Caltrans for several additional weekend full closures on the U.S. 101 Bayshore Freeway (Hospital Curve) between Cesar Chavez & 17th St., to apply continuous reinforced concrete paving to the freeway.

Looking ahead, motorists can expect a series of full freeway closures along the U.S. 101 Bayshore (Hospital Curve) where the freeway will be entirely closed to traffic between Cesar Chavez to 17th to continue the necessary road work.

Full Freeway Closures

• September 4-7 (Labor Day Weekend): NB Cesar Chavez to 17th St.
• September 18-21: NB Cesar Chavez to 17th St.
