On March 25, 2026, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, who was on a visit to China.
Liu Bin stated that China supports the IAEA in playing its due role in improving global governance in the nuclear field. China stands ready to further strengthen cooperation with the IAEA to elevate the level of international cooperation on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, build a community with a shared future for nuclear safety, and jointly safeguard the international nuclear non-proliferation regime.
Rafael Mariano Grossi commended the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative proposed by China. He spoke highly of China's role as a global leader in the application of nuclear energy and nuclear technology, and said that the IAEA is willing to deepen cooperation with China to jointly uphold the global nuclear order and promote international peace and security.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear issue, the Ukraine crisis and other issues.
