LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement in response to the Los Angeles City Council's reforms to the City Charter:
"The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce applauds the City Council's decision to advance commonsense reforms that will strengthen Los Angeles's ability to plan, budget, and deliver services for residents and businesses. In particular, we welcome the move to a two-year budget cycle and the establishment of a capital infrastructure plan - measures that will bring greater fiscal discipline, long-range planning, and accountability to City government. These are exactly the kinds of structural improvements that Angelenos have long deserved.
The Chamber has consistently advocated for reforms that make city government work better, and we are encouraged to see meaningful progress in that direction.
We look forward to continuing to work alongside City leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders to advance a governance agenda that serves all of Los Angeles - and we remain committed to being a constructive, good-faith partner in that effort."
