Minister Elmedin Konaković met with the Ambassador of Ireland in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adrian Farrell

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met today with the Ambassador of Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adrian Farrell, who informed him about the priorities of the Republic of Ireland's presidency of the Council of the European Union, which began on July 1, 2026.

They discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the process of European integration, reform priorities, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland.

Ambassador Farrell presented the program of the Irish Presidency, emphasizing a focus on strengthening the resilience, security, and competitiveness of the European Union, as well as continuing the policy of enlargement. He reassured Minister Konaković of Ireland's strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path, affirming commitment to the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order.

Minister Konaković congratulated the Republic of Ireland on assuming the presidency of the Council of the European Union. He expressed confidence that Ireland's presidency would provide an additional impetus to the enlargement policy and help maintain the positive momentum of European integration for the countries of the Western Balkans.

He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is firmly committed to continuing the reform process and fulfilling its obligations toward European Union membership. He emphasized that European integration is the country's top foreign policy and development priority.

Minister Konaković also highlighted the importance of the partnership with Ireland, noting its contributions to shaping European policies in security, defence, and stability in the European neighborhood. He expressed hope that during the Irish presidency, cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ireland, and European Union institutions would further improve.

Both leaders confirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and continuing close cooperation in areas of shared interest.
