KAHULUI, Hawaiʻi - The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) is notifying the public that Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) in Honokōhau will be subject to intermittent closures for rock scaling and slope stabilization work beginning Monday, April 6.

The intermittent closures will be in effect on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., between mile markers 35 and 37 in the vicinity of Honokōhau Bay. During the closures, highway users can expect intermittent holds of traffic for about 10 minutes. The project is expected to last a month.

The work is being done to remove loose rock and stabilize the slopes following the Kona Low storms in March.

All work is weather permitting. For construction schedule updates or changes, see HDOT's social media pages on https://www.facebook.com/HawaiiDepartmentOfTransportation and on Twitter/X @DOTHawaii.
