Lane Closures on I-285 in SW Fulton, Cascade to SR 166/Langford Pkwy, this Weekend - Expect Travel Delays

ATLANTA -Due to forecasts of inclement weather this weekend, the full closure of all lanes on Interstate 285 (I-285) in southwest Fulton County, scheduled for this weekend, is postponed.
Instead of these full closure operations, crews for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will install lane closures on I-285 between Cascade Road and SR 166/Langford Parkway from 9 p.m. on Friday, August 28, until 5 a.m. on Monday, August 31. These closures continue the ongoing I-285 Westside Rebuild concrete slab reconstruction and rehabilitation project currently ongoing along the westside of the I-285 corridor from State Route (SR) 14/South Fulton Parkway in College Park to Collier Road.
Weather and onsite conditions permitting, these are the lane closures scheduled from 9 p.m. on Friday, August 28 through 5 a.m. on Monday, August 31:
I-285 northbound:

Two left lanes closed between Cascade Road (exit 7) and SR 166/Langford Parkway (exit 5)
I-285 southbound:
-
Two left lanes closed between SR 166/Langford Parkway (exit 5) and Cascade Road (exit 7)
NOTE: The contractor has provided a tentative schedule for upcoming September full closures, including the weekends of September 11-14 and September 25-28. As always, this schedule is dependent on weather and onsite roadway conditions, and weekend full closures may be postponed when efficient operations and/or safety are not optimum.
Crews will be milling/grinding the roadway concrete in preparation to repair or replace the concrete slabs through the project area. Lane closures are necessary to provide sufficient space for crews to work safely and to protect motorists while large equipment is in operation. Motorists are urged to pay attention to shifting and changing travel infrastructure along the corridor. Roadside message boards and signage will alert drivers in advance of lane shifts and closures.
This $206 million project is one of two projects along the I-285 westside corridor designed to repair and/or replace concrete slabs. It is scheduled for completion in 2029.
ADVISORY: Drivers should exercise caution in and around work zones, wear seatbelts, follow signage guidance, reduce speed, move over one lane, when possible, to ensure the safety of crews, and avoid distractions behind the wheel. Motorists are urged to use the 511GA app or their preferred navigation or wayfinding apps to navigate lane and road closures during construction if traveling on I-285 this weekend is necessary.
