The City of Greensboro will activate White Flag warming centers Sunday, November 30, in response to the anticipated overnight low temperatures.
First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Ave., will provide overnight shelter from 8 pm Sunday, November 30, into Monday morning, December 1, until 8 am.
First Baptist Church will be staffed by the Community Safety Department, which is trained to work with special populations and coordinate services upon request.
Activation of 'White Flag' occurs when the actual or "feels like" temperature is at least 32 degrees for two or more hours.
A "White Flag" can also be activated when the weather forecast or current weather conditions include a winter weather event causing freezing precipitation, extended below freezing temperatures, and/or wind concerns, which may impact homeless encampments.
