Mental Health advocates receive Grayson Murray Be Kind to One Another Legacy Award at 2026 AdventHealth Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The recipients of the 2026 Grayson Murray Be Kind to One Another Legacy Award were announced Sunday, Aug. 23, during the closing ceremony of the AdventHealth Championship.

The recipients of the second annual award include community members Brad Botteron and Ann Botteron, of Summit Ranch, and player/caddie Doc Redman.

In 2025, the AdventHealth Championship announced the inaugural Grayson Murray Be Kind to One Another Legacy Award in memory of the late winner of the 2023 AdventHealth Championship.

The two-part award recognizes a Korn Ferry Tour player or caddie and a local community member or organization that embody Grayson's belief in spreading kindness and supporting those experiencing mental health and addiction challenges.

"Now in its second year, the Grayson Murray Be Kind to One Another Legacy Award provides an opportunity to honor Grayson and his efforts as a constant champion for the well-being of others," said Rick Amos, the AdventHealth Championship tournament director.

Murray, who was open about his personal experience with anxiety, depression and addiction, tragically took his own life in May 2024 at the young age of 30.

The professional golf community and international sports world was shocked and saddened by his passing one year after his triumphant 2023 win in Kansas City.

Murray's willingness to speak candidly on these important topics and his personal generosity to help others inspired this award.

Following his passing, Grayson's parents, Terry Murray and Eric Murray, founded the Grayson Murray Foundation with the mission of creating awareness and support around mental health and addiction.

To honor his legacy, AdventHealth and the AdventHealth Championship, in partnership with the Grayson Murray Foundation, created the Grayson Murray Be Kind to One Another Legacy Award.

This year's Community Award recipients were Brad Botteron and Ann Botteron, founders of Summit Ranch.

Summit Ranch offers nature-based mental health support and clinical therapy for children and teenagers in Shawnee, Kansas. It is focused on supporting youth and helping children develop the real-life tools they need to thrive - emotionally, socially and academically.

This year's recipient of the Player/Caddie Award is Doc Redman.

Redman, a professional golfer on the Korn Ferry Tour, received his award Friday prior to leaving the tournament. He was nominated by fellow players for his willingness to speak openly about taking his own mental health break from professional golf, demonstrating the same courage and self-awareness that the award seeks to recognize.

While Redman did not qualify to play in the final rounds of the AdventHealth Championship, he earned enough points during this year's Korn Ferry Tour to secure his PGA TOUR card.

"The Grayson Murray Be Kind to One Another Legacy Award is deeply meaningful to us as it carries forward Grayson's legacy of kindness and reminds us that even a small act of kindness could be the difference between hope and despair," the Murrays said in a statement. "We are grateful to see Grayson's memory kept alive through the efforts and actions of the individuals and organizations recognized with this award."
