Work has started on a 15-bed expansion project at Loma Linda University Medical Center - Murrieta. The project will reconfigure existing space to create space for 15 additional inpatient beds, expanded patient services, and upgraded staff lounges.
LLUMC-Murrieta serves the Southwest Riverside region, one of Southern California's fastest-growing areas, making additional beds a vital part of the hospital's effort to provide greater access to services. Construction is currently taking place on the third, fourth, and fifth floors, with an estimated project timeline of approximately 14 months.
The expansion project is being supported by funds raised as part of Loma Linda University Health's Stronger Together campaign, a $310-million effort to advance education, healthcare, and research, with the goal of shaping a healthier, stronger tomorrow.
"Southwest Riverside region residents overwhelmingly want to receive their care at Loma Linda University Medical Center - Murrieta," said Jonathan Jean-Marie, MHA, FACHE, senior vice president and administrator of LLUMC - Murrieta. "This expansion project will serve as a foundational first step in addressing the growing need for whole person care in our region."
The project is being carefully phased to minimize workflow interruptions. Along with new inpatient beds, the project will include construction of new support spaces such as staff lounges, a new physical therapy space on the fifth floor, and a meeting room on the fourth floor. All construction activities follow ILSM (Interim Life Safety Measures) and ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) protocols, actively monitored by Environmental Health & Safety, Epidemiology, and Construction, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
