Chinese PLA's naval ship rescues a Philippine fisherman

BEIJING, Dec. 26 -- In the South China Sea on December 25, 2025, the Chinese naval sailors saved a distressed Philippine fisherman who had been stranded at sea for three days due to the engine failure of his fishing boat.

The Chinese guided-missile destroyer Hefei (Hull 174) spotted the Philippine fisherman holding up a "Help Me" sign and immediately dispatched a rescue boat to deliver essential supplies including drinking water and food to him, ensuring his life safety. The Philippine fisherman expressed his gratitude to the Chinese naval sailors.

During the process, the Chinese side maintained necessary communication and coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard vessel 4408.
