Attorney General James Secures Final Victory Defending Wind Energy

June 15, 2026

NEW YORK - New York Attorney General Letitia James today released the following statement after the Trump administration dismissed its appeal of a court ruling striking down its unlawful blockade on wind energy development:

"New York's wind projects will create jobs, strengthen our economy, and bring down New Yorkers' electric bills. My office will continue to fight any attempt to undermine that progress."

In May 2025, Attorney General James led a coalition of 17 other attorneys general in suing to block a presidential directive suspending all federal approvals for wind energy projects. In December 2025, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted the coalition's motion for summary judgment, declared the directive illegal, and vacated the order. With the Trump administration's appeal now dismissed, Attorney General James has secured a final victory in the case.
