Providence and the University of Alaska Anchorage partnered once again to host the second annual UMED Farmer's Market, a community event focused on sustainability and local connection.
Taking place from 3-6 p.m. in the Alaska Airlines Center parking lot, the market launched on Sept. 2 and will continue on Sept. 9 and 16, highlighting the best of what local growers and makers have to offer. Shoppers can enjoy fresh produce, baked goods, kombucha, pickles, lemonade and a variety of hand-crafted items, all sourced and created within our community.
The theme of this year's market is sustainability, underscoring the importance of supporting local producers and choosing goods that are both environmentally conscious and community-driven. Along with the vendors, the Seawolf Bookstore, Alaska Pacific University and PeopleMover are also planning to be present, adding to the variety of resources and experiences available to attendees.
Beyond showcasing local products, the farmer's market is also about connection. By bringing together UMED neighbors, students, employees and Anchorage residents, the event creates a welcoming space to gather, shop, and support one another. Providence and UAA are proud to continue building this tradition and look forward to the market's remaining dates as an opportunity to celebrate sustainability and community spirit.
