I am excited to welcome Vjeran Pavic to The New York Times as the new editor of our tech news show, "Hard Fork."
Vjeran joins us at a pivotal moment as he leads "Hard Fork" into its new video-first era. Reporting to me, he will work closely with Kevin Roose, Casey Newton, and the entire Hard Fork team to evolve the show's visual identity. He will also collaborate with our podcast video partners, including Brooke Minters and Mariya Abdulkaf.
Vjeran is a rare talent who combines technical mastery in all things video production and editing, with top-notch editorial instinct. In this role, he will be focused on shaping how "Hard Fork" lives and breathes in a visual medium. And, being known for a grounded, welcoming approach, he'll bring fresh ideas and experimental formats to the show.
Vjeran is uniquely positioned for this challenge, having spent his career at the intersection of tech and media. Most recently, he served as the supervising producer and senior director of video at The Verge, where he spent more than a decade working on The Verge's biggest video products, including "Decoder" and "The Vergecast."
He began his career at The Wall Street Journal's All Things Digital (later Recode) and later worked on the Code Conference with Kara Swisher. He also produced and edited high-profile interviews with tech leaders like Sundar Pichai and Mark Zuckerberg. Fun fact: His Mark Zuckerberg documentary short on Facebook moderation was hosted and reported by Casey, a full-circle moment for the team.
"I'm thrilled to be working with Vjeran again," said Casey. "He's a hugely talented video journalist, and his creative vision is already elevating 'Hard Fork.' We have big plans for the show this year, and I can't imagine a better partner than Vjeran to help us make them a reality."
Please join me in welcoming Vjeran to The Times!
