October 10, 2025

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) and partner law enforcement agencies can confirm that the Deerfield Men's Work Center #2 inmate who walked off farm property at Greensville Correctional Complex in Greensville County is now in custody.

The inmate was taken into custody at approximately 5 p.m. Friday not far from VADOC property. He walked off the property at approximately 1:15 p.m. while working on the farm, outside the perimeter fencing at Greensville.

"The VADOC thanks our dedicated corrections team and our law enforcement partners at Virginia State Police, the Greensville County Sheriff's Office, and Stafford County Sheriff's Office who immediately jumped into action and demonstrated great partnership on this case," said VADOC Director Chad Dotson. "It is inspiring to see our public safety team come together in these critical moments to keep Virginians safe."

The VADOC is continuing to investigate. No further information will be released at this time.
