METAIRIE - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) on Wednesday spoke before the French Quarter Business Association, which helps small businesses in the French Quarter succeed. Cassidy also toured unCommon Construction, which trains apprentices to be skilled laborers in the construction trades.
"Louisiana businesses thrive when they have a skilled workforce, safe community, and the tools to keep building," said Dr. Cassidy. "That's exactly what I'm working on in Congress."
Cassidy supported the Working Families Tax Cut bill which ended taxes on tips and overtime, extended the Child Tax Credit, allowed businesses to deduct 100% of their new business investments, and made permanent the 20% small business pass-through deduction. As Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Cassidy also increased Americans' access to career and technical-based education by establishing Workforce Pell Grants.
At both stops, Cassidy was thanked for his leadership in making the Greater New Orleans area safer and more prosperous.
"We thank Senator Cassidy for speaking at today's French Quarter Business Association luncheon at the Astor Crown Plaza," said Mr. Tony Viloria, Past President and Director of Development for the French Quarter Business Association. "Our members truly valued the opportunity to hear from him and to share our perspectives. We appreciate his time, engagement, and continued support of the French Quarter business community.
"We're grateful to Senator Bill Cassidy for taking the time to visit our new campus and engage directly with our young people, hearing firsthand about their aspirations and hopes for their futures so he can represent them in DC," said Mr. Aaron Frumin, Founder and CEO of unCommon Construction. "His curiosity about unCommon's unique model for workforce development, and his willingness to connect authentically with the next generation of builders here in New Orleans means a great deal to our students and our community."
