Traffic Pattern Change near Rt. 1 and Nassau Road
Lewes - The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that one travel lane beneath the Nassau Bridge will open to traffic by the end of the day on Friday, October 30, 2026. This will allow traffic on the southbound side of Route 1 to use exit 40 to Minos Conaway roundabout, utilize the new service road (Janice Rd EXT) and Janice Rd roundabout to then go under the Nassau Bridge on eastbound New Road on the new alignment from the Janice Road roundabout, continuing onto southbound Nassau Road to access northbound SR 1.
Businesses throughout the project area remain open and accessible during construction.
Both directions under the bridge will open when the Nassau/New Rd intersection detour is complete in mid-January 2027.
Motorists should follow posted signs and use caution and slow down while traveling through the construction zone.
