APG Federal Credit Union Invests in the Future with $75,000 in Scholarships for 30 Local Students

Credit unions across Maryland are dedicated to helping local communities thrive. In a great example of this mission, APG Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) recently announced the winners of its 2026 Scholarship Awards Program.

APGFCU honored each recipient at the credit union's 88th Annual Member Meeting, which was held virtually. This year, the credit union gave out $75,000 in scholarships providing $2,500 each to 30 local students and adult learners graduating from high school or continuing their education. APGFCU's scholarship program is now in its 29th year. Over time, it has given more than $735,000 to 451 local students to help them succeed in school.

"At the heart of our credit union's mission is a commitment to empower our members, enrich lives, and lead with purpose in the communities we serve," said Becky Smith, president and CEO of APGFCU. She added that as education costs go up, these scholarships help local students get closer to achieving their dreams.

The winners were picked based on essays, photos, or videos they submitted. Their projects looked at an important financial lesson and explained how they will use that knowledge to build a stronger future for themselves and their communities.

Congratulations to all the 2026 scholarship winners!
