Governor Polis Celebrates the U.S. Supreme Court Blocking the Trump Administration's Efforts to Make it Harder for Americans and Coloradans to Vote

DENVER - Today, the United States Supreme Court blocked the Trump Administration's efforts to weaponize the United States Postal Service and make it harder for Americans and Coloradans to vote in this year's upcoming midterm election.

"This Supreme Court decision is good news for our democracy. Colorado has gold-standard elections and this decision allows Colorado's secure elections to proceed without confusion, chaos, and bureaucratic blockades meant to make it harder for Coloradans to vote. I appreciate the Supreme Court providing clarity for this year's midterm elections. Our democracy is strongest when more Americans participate and the Trump Administration's efforts would have made it harder for election officials to administer free and fair elections," said Governor Polis.

Per state law, every active voter in Colorado will be mailed a ballot for the 2026 General Election between October 2 and October 9, 2026. Coloradans can begin to return ballots at drop boxes across the state beginning October 12, 2026, and early vote centers will be open statewide beginning October 19, 2026.
