Statement by the Statement by the spokesperson on the formation of a new government in Iraq

The High Representative Kaja Kallas congratulated Iraq on the formation of a new government and wishes to Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and his government full success in delivering on the aspirations of the Iraqi people. We also extend our congratulations to Fuad Hussein for his re-appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and look forward to continue engaging with him.

The EU reaffirms its unequivocal support to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq, a key partner in the region. The EU stands ready to continue working with the new Iraqi government in ensuring a peaceful and prosperous future for all Iraqi people.
