Valdosta Fire Department to Host “Give Burns the Boot” Fundraising Drive

The Valdosta Fire Department will host its annual "Give Burns the Boot" fundraising drive on Friday, May 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at multiple locations throughout the city to support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation (GFBF).

Firefighters will be stationed at the following locations collecting donations from the community:

  • Piggly Wiggly (Madison Hwy & Bemiss Rd)
  • Walmart (Norman Drive)
  • Walmart Neighborhood Market (Bemiss)

The annual statewide fundraising campaign helps provide opportunities for children who have suffered burn injuries to attend specialized camps where they can connect with other children who have experienced similar challenges. These camps offer encouragement, confidence-building experiences, emotional support, and lifelong friendships in a safe and uplifting environment.

"We are proud to partner with the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation for this important initiative," said Marcus Haynes, Fire Chief of the Valdosta Fire Department. "The funds raised through 'Give Burns the Boot' directly help children who have experienced traumatic burn injuries by giving them an opportunity to heal, build confidence, and connect with others who understand their journey. We encourage our community to come out and support this meaningful cause."

Community members are encouraged to stop by any participating location during the event to make a donation and support burn-injured children across Georgia.
