Governor Moore to Join NAN Convention for One-on-One Conversation with Rev. Sharpton on Economic Opportunity, Public Safety, and the Future of Black Leadership in America

New York, NY (April 1, 2026) - Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), will sit down for a fireside chat with The Honorable Wes Moore, Governor of the State of Maryland, on Thursday, April 9th at the 2026 NAN Annual Convention. The conversation will take place from 11:00 AM to 11:40 AM in the Metropolitan East Ballroom at the Sheraton New York Times Square.

Governor Moore brings a remarkable and deeply personal story to the NAN convention stage. A combat veteran, bestselling author, and former CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation, one of the nation's largest poverty-fighting organizations, he was elected Maryland's first Black governor in 2022, making history in a state with a profound civil rights legacy. His administration has prioritized closing the racial wealth gap, expanding access to education and workforce opportunities, and delivering real economic progress for Maryland's most underserved communities.

The fireside chat will offer a candid exchange between Rev. Sharpton and Governor Moore on the issues that sit at the intersection of Black leadership, governance, and the civil rights movement, from public safety and economic equity to the broader question of what it means to hold power and wield it in service of the people who need it most.

Governor Moore's appearance follows directly on the heels of the convention's fireside chat with Former Vice President Kamala Harris, continuing a landmark morning of conversations with the most consequential Black leaders in American public life at NAN's historic 35th Annual Convention.
