Nashville Fire Hockey Team Skates in Remembrance of the 25th Anniversary of 9/11/01 and to Support IAFF Local 140/NFD “Fill the Boot” Campaign

The Nashville Fire/IAFF Local 140 Hockey Team will take the ice for the 13th Annual 9/11 Memorial Game on Friday, September 11th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ford Ice Center Bellevue (7638 Hwy 70 S, Nashville, TN 37221).

For the sixth consecutive year, Nashville Fire Hockey will face off against the Metro-Nashville Police Hockey Team in a rivalry that's grown fierce on the ice but remains rooted in remembrance and charity.

Proceeds from the game will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) through the IAFF Local 140/NFD "Fill the Boot" campaign. This longstanding firefighter tradition-now more than 70 years strong-carries special meaning for the Nashville Fire Department.

  • Chief Joseph Knipfer's son, Barrett, was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy four years ago, making the cause deeply personal.
  • Firefighter Daniel Baker was diagnosed with ALS, now recognized as an on-the-job injury for firefighters.

As in years past, we come together to remember and honor the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and civilians who perished in the attacks against our great nation on September 11, 2001.

As we mark the 25th anniversary, we honor their lives, their service, their sacrifice, and the families who carry their memory forward.

Twenty-five years later, our promise remains the same:

We Will Never Forget.

Fans can shop for NFD Hockey apparel. Admission is free, with donations encouraged and appreciated.

The game will honor those lost during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks along with remembering members lost from the Nashville Fire/Police Departments and across the country.
