The Ministry of Defence announced today that the first joint military exercise between Serbia and NATO, involving approximately 600 members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the armed forces of Italy, Romania and Türkiye, is being held this week and next at the South Base and the Borovac training ground near Bujanovac.

The exercise, entitled NATO-Serbia, is also attended by military planners and observers from the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Romania, the United States of America, Serbia, Türkiye, France and Montenegro.

During the two-week field activities, participants will practise tactics, techniques and procedures applied in peace support operations, such as base security, checkpoint operations, crowd control and urban combat.

The exercise is being conducted pursuant to a conclusion adopted by the Government of Serbia and represents a continuation of the mutually beneficial, concrete and transparent cooperation between Serbia and NATO within the framework of the Partnership for Peace programme, on an equal footing and with full respect for Serbia's military neutrality.
