SIUE women's tennis finished its sweep of the Ohio Valley Conference regular season Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Western Illinois at the SIUE Tennis Courts.

The Cougars improved to 5-0 in the OVC and 14-2 overall with the win. They will be the No. 1 seed for the OVC Championships, which begin next week in St. Louis at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

SIUE will have a first-round bye into the semifinals via the No. 1 seed. The Cougars' next match is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. It is the first time SIUE has won the OVC regular season and captured the No. 1 seed since the 2016-17 season.

Saturday's action also served as Senior Day for the SIUE women's tennis program. SIUE's three seniors stepped up with big singles wins.

After capturing the doubles point, senior Cydney Rogers was SIUE's first winner in singles, dispatching Nadezhsa 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
