NOFA Applications for Multi-Family Housing Open Nov. 2

Charles County Government is pleased to provide a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for a new Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) initiative to support development of affordable multi-family rental housing. On September 22, 2026, the County Commissioners approved the release of a 2027 NOFA, allowing qualified applicants to compete for a PILOT agreement to advance affordable housing development and housing preservation projects in designated priority funding areas of Charles County, MD. The FY2027 PILOT is one part of a comprehensive strategy for local government to demonstrate its investment in, and support for, affordable housing development in priority funding areas of our community.

The NOFA application will be available for interested parties to download starting Monday, Nov 2, 2026, and closing on the application deadline of January 8, 2027. PILOT funding availability in an amount up to $700,000 will be determined following a public hearing and announced no later than June 2027, based upon a competitive process.
