SACRAMENTO, CA. - Assemblymember Tasha Boerner (D-Encinitas) issued a statement on Assembly Constitutional Amendment (ACA) 9:
"I have decided to hold ACA 9 to ensure that I can present the best consumer-protection measure to the voters. The goal for this legislation has always been about good governance and ensuring that the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has the capacity necessary to focus on affordability and protect consumers.
It is about having the right people to administer programs that support our hard-working families who desperately need internet connectivity. It is about ensuring we build out middle-mile and last-mile infrastructure together to end the digital divide. It is about refocusing the CPUC on the things Californians need most.
While I plan to hold this bill, I do intend on continuing these vital conversations during the fall with stakeholders to ensure that we can move this legislation forward in the coming year."
