Brandeis University has announced the election of three new members, all alumni, to its Board of Trustees: finance executive Mitchell Caplan '79, textile leader Michael Saivetz '97, and tech investor Daniel Scheinman '87. The new trustees bring a wealth of expertise spanning financial services, global manufacturing, venture capital, and technology leadership to help guide the university's strategic future. Each was elected to a four-year term.

"We are thrilled to welcome these transformational leaders who bring tremendous experience and knowledge to our board," said Lisa Kranc '75, Chair of the Board of Trustees. "We look forward to their participation and the strategic insights they will offer."

He also serves as CEO of Tarsadia Enterprises, overseeing investments and strategy across financial services, healthcare, technology, and real estate, and serves as a Board Director of Modern Bank.

Previously, Caplan served as CEO and a board director of Jefferson National, where he developed a technology-driven, tax-deferred investment platform that was subsequently acquired by Nationwide. From 2000 to 2008, he led E*TRADE Financial as CEO, helping advance online investing and the development of integrated digital financial services. Earlier in his career, he served as CEO, President, and Vice Chairman of TeleBanc Financial Corporation, building the pioneering branchless bank into a significant force in online banking, and began his professional career as an associate at Shearman & Sterling (now A&O Shearman).

Caplan previously served on the Board of Advisors at the School of Business and Economics at Brandeis. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Brandeis University and went on to receive both a J.D. and an MBA from Emory University.

Michael Saivetz '97 brings extensive executive experience in global operations and manufacturing as president and chief operating officer of Richloom Fabrics Group, which was founded in 1957. A third-generation, family-owned global textile and finished goods company headquartered in New York City, Richloom supplies fabrics and home furnishings to hospitality, upholstery, outdoor furniture, retail, and RV industries.

Saivetz, who assumed the role of President at Richloom in May 2023 after serving as COO, represents the third generation of family leadership as the grandson of company founder Fred Richman and nephew of CEO Jim Richman. During his tenure, he helped drive Richloom's strategic growth in Shanghai and expanded the company's market footprint into the RV industry. (since 2011) and video communications leader Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (since 2013), alongside positions on several private corporate boards.

Scheinman spent nearly two decades at Cisco Systems, Inc. from 1993 to 2011 in various executive roles, most recently serving as senior vice president of the Cisco Media Solutions Group.
