New Pine Tree State Prosperity Ads Blast Bobby Charles' Support for Banning Abortion in Maine

Charles Says as Governor He Will Personally Persuade Women Not to Have Abortions By Telling Them How Special They Are

Today, Pine Tree State Prosperity, a group backed by the Democratic Governors Association, launched two new ads "Dad" and "Could Never" blasting Bobby Charles for his extreme support for banning abortion and his disturbing comments on how he would personally advise women on their most personal health care decisions by having a 30-minute conversation with them in his office.

In an interview with the Christian Civic League on May 28 in Augusta, Charles said, "I want to leave my door wide open as governor to any young woman who is pregnant and is considering an abortion. You spend half an hour with me, you will understand how special you are."

Charles has a long record of opposing abortion rights and reproductive health care. He called abortion "abhorrent," said he's "unapologetically pro-life," and celebrated Dobbs, which he called a "good decision."
