Permanent Secretary Pulkkinen: Finland and South Korea see opportunities for deeper industrial and technological cooperation

The Permanent Secretary of the Finnish Ministry of Defence, Esa Pulkkinen, is on a working visit in South Korea.

Permanent Secretary Esa Pulkkinen met South Korea's Vice Minister of National Defence Lee Doo-hee on 8 September 2025. They both expressed their clear will to significantly deepen the industrial and technological cooperation between Finland and South Korea.

"South Korea is a key partner for Finland in materiel cooperation. We see many opportunities for closer cooperation," Permanent Secretary Pulkkinen said.

The Permanent Secretary also met representatives of LIG Nex1, which is a major defence industry operator in South Korea. He also met Finnish defence industry companies' representatives in South Korea.

In South Korea, the Permanent Secretary will also attend the Seoul Defence Dialogue. From South Korea, Pulkkinen will travel to Japan.
