The University Women's Commission is accepting University-wide nominations for the annual University of Toledo Alice H. Skeens Outstanding Woman Award.
Anyone in the University and the University of Toledo Medical College can nominate a faculty or staff member; however, previous award recipients are not eligible.
Sunday, March 1, is the deadline to submit a nominee.
Nominees will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Exceptional contributions and achievements;
• Active involvement in the University community;
• Demonstrated positive attitude toward responsibilities;
• Advocacy and support of women's issues; and
• Longevity of service (minimum of five years).
Each nomination must include:
• A completed nomination form
• A letter of recommendation from the nominator explaining why the nominee exemplifies outstanding qualities. The letter should be uploaded as a PDF, DOC or DOCX file.
The documentation provided will serve as the basis for evaluation.
The nominee's accomplishments carry greater weight than the number of nominations submitted, and additional supporting materials may be requested from nominees.
Award recipients will be honored at the Annual Spring Awards Luncheon on Thursday, April 9.
For questions regarding nominations or past award winners, visit the Alice H. Skeens Outstanding Woman Award website or contact the University Women's Commission at [email protected].
The University Women's Commission established its Outstanding Woman Award in 1987.
Numerous women have been honored since its founding. In 2011, the UWC Outstanding Woman Award was re-named the Alice H. Skeens Outstanding Woman Award to honor the life of Dr. Alice Skeens, a prolific leader who served our University for nearly five decades as a professor, administrator and advisor.
