Redwood City- Supervisor Jackie Speier will buy a cup of coffee for walkers, runners and bikers at Sawyer Camp Trail on Saturday morning, November 8th from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The San Mateo County Parks Department will welcome the inaugural food/coffee cart to Sawyer Camp Trail, at the suggestion of Supervisor Speier. Sage Bakehouse of Montara, known for their New Zealand style hand-held pies, will sell hot and cold drinks and treats at the trail's South Gate at Crystal Springs Road and Skyline Boulevard.
"Our parks are one of San Mateo County's greatest assets and I want us to develop innovative ideas to make them even more attractive to residents and visitors," Supervisor Speier said. "As a long-time walker and former runner on the trail I know it is a beloved gathering place for people of all ages to exercise and to enjoy nature and the pristine reservoir. Our Parks Director Nicholas Calderon has not only been open to this idea, he made it happen. I think visitors will love it."
Sage Bakehouse will return Nov. 15, 8 a.m. to noon. Service may be extended if sales warrant additional dates.
