Director-General of East Asian Affairs Department receives a Vietnamese delegation under Emerging Leaders 2025 program

On 22 September 2025, Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, received and had a discussion with Mr. Pham Duc Tuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, along with a delegation of emerging Vietnamese leaders, on their visit to Thailand under the Emerging Leaders 2025 program. This year's central theme is "Harnessing the Creative Economy to Achieve Shared Prosperity." Also in attendance were representatives from Department of Information, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Department of International Economic Affairs.

Both sides exchanged views on further strengthening Thailand - Viet Nam relations under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially on enhancing economic, development and education cooperation, as well as fostering people-to-people connectivity. Both also agreed to jointly organize celebratory activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Viet Nam in 2026, with the aim of further strengthening close ties between the two countries.

The Emerging Leaders program is an initiative continuously implemented for the 12th consecutive year by the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh and the Ministry to strengthen networks with emerging leaders from the political, governmental, and civil society sectors of Viet Nam.
