Milestone in Information Security: RU Receives ISO 27001 Certification

Reykjavik University has received certification according to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, the international standard for information security management.
The certification has been confirmed by an independent auditor and is based on regular audits. It therefore does not mark an endpoint, but rather the university's commitment to continuous improvement in the ever-changing information security environment.
"We are proud of this milestone and grateful to all the staff who contributed to making it a reality," says Sæmundur Friðjónsson, director of IT Services at RU.
The certification confirms that RU's IT department works in a systematic and disciplined manner to:
- identify and manage risks before they become problems
- protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information
- respond to security threats safely and calmly
- continuously improve processes in line with developments in information security
The certification also contributes to greater operational resilience against security threats and strengthens the trust that students, staff, partners, and other stakeholders place in the university's handling of information.
