The City of Sioux City Engineering Division announces the resumption of work of the 29th Street Reconstruction Project - Jones Street to Cheyenne Boulevard. The contractor plans to begin construction on or about April 6, 2026, weather permitting. All work is anticipated to be completed in Late Fall 2026.
Work on the project began in Spring 2025 and the following areas have been completed (other than final grading and seeding):
• 29th Street from Cheyenne Blvd to Iowa Street
• 29th Street from Jones Street to Jennings Street
• Jones Street from 29th Street to Bryant School
• Jennings Street from 29th Street to Bryant School
Stage 2 includes the replacement of all pavements, sidewalks, and utilities (water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer infrastructure) on 29th Street from Jennings Street to Iowa Street.
During project closures two detour routes will be posted. The first detour route is for eastbound traffic on 29th Street and utilizes Jennings Street, 31st Street, and Cheyenne Boulevard. The second detour is for westbound traffic on 29th Street and utilizes Wall Street, 27th Street, and Jones Street.
The 29th Street Reconstruction Project was awarded to Bainbridge Construction, LLC on January 13, 2025, in the amount of $5,987,422.89. This project is funded with local funds.
