On November 5, in Doha, within the framework of the Second World Summit for Social Development, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan participated in and delivered remarks at the High-level Round Table on "Assessing progress and addressing gaps and challenges in the implementation of the commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and its Programme of Action and giving momentum towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia touched upon the 1995 World Summit for Social Development, which laid the foundation for eradicating poverty, achieving full and productive employment, and fostering social integration.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia mentioned that over the past decades, the international community has witnessed remarkable progress in reducing poverty and expanding access to quality, affordable and inclusive education and healthcare, as well as expanding social protection systems.
Vahan Kostanyan presented that Armenia continues to invest in youth empowerment, the development of digital literacy and innovation in order to ensure the implementation of the promise of "leave no one behind". He emphasized that peace, democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights are key prerequisites for social equity and sustainable development.
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia also expressed gratitude to the international organizations and development partners supporting Armenia, emphasizing that only through joint efforts can a just and inclusive transition towards a sustainable future be enabled.
