Airports Council International World has once again named Delta's hometown hub Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as the world's busiest airport.
Delta's hometown hub Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) has once again taken the crown as the world's busiest airport.
Airports Council International World's annual rankings reveal ATL served more than 106 million passengers in 2025. ATL has held the world's busiest airport title for 27 of the last 28 years, falling off just once in 2020 during the pandemic. ATL is followed by Dubai International Airport coming in the no. 2 spot, and Tokyo Haneda Airport at no. 3.
"This distinction is a point of pride for Delta," said Jeff Davidman, Vice President of State and Local Government Affairs at Delta Air Lines, "It reflects the dedication of our people and our shared commitment with airport partners to deliver a best-in-class experience. We look forward to the continued growth of ATL's legacy alongside that of Delta."
Hartsfield Jackson is the cornerstone of Delta's global network, enabling hundreds of thousands of jobs, and billions in economic impact for the state of Georgia.
"As home to the busiest airport in the world, Hartsfield-Jackson reinforces Georgia's place as a global leader for investment, tourism, and trade," said Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp. "This recognition reflects the dedication of the airport workforce and the strong public-private partnership that keep our state connected to the world. We are proud of Delta's deep roots here - including the more than 37,000 Delta employees who call Georgia home - and its continued commitment to supporting jobs, opportunity, and long-term growth across our state."
Delta has invested more than $12 billion into modernizing its hub network, including major enhancements at Hartsfield-Jackson - everything from new and enhanced concourses and Sky Clubs, to innovative technologies like TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID to streamline the airport travel journey.
"Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is more than just a gateway to the world; it is an economic engine for our Atlanta and our state. As ATL once again leads the world in passenger traffic, we celebrate the employees, partners, and airlines like Delta who make this possible through teamwork and investment," said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. "My team is committed to supporting the infrastructure, workforce, and innovation that keep Atlanta moving forward and ATL as the most efficient airport in the world."
Delta currently offers nearly 1,000 peak-day departures from Hartsfield Jackson to 207 destinations worldwide, including 61 international destinations. Delta has called Georgia home since 1941 and employs more than 37,000 Georgians.
