Oct. 7, 2025 - DENTON - TWU will present a free virtual workshop on writing college admissions essays.
"In Your College Era: Writing Admissions Essays Webinar" will take place Monday, Oct. 20, at 6-7 p.m. The webinar is open to all high school seniors, parents and counselors, regardless of which school they're applying to.
College admissions and scholarship essays can open doors to acceptance and financial aid, but the writing process often feels overwhelming. The session will break down college admissions and scholarship essays step by step, offering proven techniques, common pitfalls to avoid, tactics to combat procrastination and guidance on AI - when it's a helpful tool and when it should be set aside.
The webinar will be conducted by Jackie Hoermann-Elliott, PhD, associate professor of English, co-director of TWU's First Year Experience and author of First-Year Composition: Writing as Inquiry and Argumentation, Running, Thinking, Writing: Embodied Cognition in Composition and Parenting while PhDing.
Two $500 scholarships will be raffled to attendees who register and participate in the entire webinar. These are one-time scholarships for prospective students who enroll at TWU.
