Baton Rouge, LA - The Mayor's Advisory Council on Veterans Affairs, in partnership with the Blue Star Mothers (BSM) of Louisiana Chapter 1, proudly announces the 4th Annual Hometown Hero Banners Campaign, honoring our community's military heroes - past and present.
This heartfelt program recognizes all military members, from Veterans to Active Duty, in honor or in memory, with banners displayed throughout downtown Baton Rouge during the entire month of November in celebration of Veterans Day and Veterans Month.
The Hometown Hero Banners, measuring approximately 2 ft. x 9 ft., are available in two options:
All banners will be displayed along the downtown streets of Baton Rouge throughout November, serving as a powerful tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our nation. Each banner tells a story of service, sacrifice, and pride. We look forward to seeing some new faces among our Hometown Heroes this year. The banners are yours to keep after the are removed, and can be rehung for free each year, as long as they are in serviceable condition.
To participate, families and sponsors are encouraged to submit payment and a photograph of their hero to Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana Chapter 1 by visiting http://bluestarmoms.net/banners-form. The deadline to purchase your banner is October 15, 2025.
City officials are calling for maximum community awareness and participation in this year's campaign to ensure Baton Rouge continues to shine as a city that honors its heroes with pride and respect.
