Fedorchak applauds White House AI framework

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) today released the following statement after the White House unveiled its National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence.

"There's no doubt that AI is rapidly transforming how we live and work. The question now is whether America develops the rules of the road and leads the future of this extremely powerful tool, or if we let adversaries like China set the terms," Fedorchak said. "It cannot be the latter. The White House's framework strikes the right balance of supporting American competitiveness and long-term innovation while protecting online safety. I'm excited to work with my Energy and Commerce Committee colleagues to move a national framework forward andcontinue to lead the AI race."

Speaker Mike Johnson, Leader Steve Scalise, Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, and Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Brian Babin issued a joint statement commending the proposal:

"AI has begun to demonstrate its potential to improve Americans' lives. To ensure we continue to harness its potential and beat China in the global AI race, Congress must take action. Today, the Trump Administration took a critical step in releasing a framework that gives Congress a roadmap to pursue legislation that provides innovators with much-needed certainty, while protecting consumers and prioritizing kids' online safety. House Republicans look forward to working across the aisle to enact a national framework that unleashes the full potential of AI, cements the U.S. as the global leader, and provides important protections for American families."

The framework highlights the need for a unified approach focused on national security, energy infrastructure, workforce development, and preventing a fragmented patchwork of state regulations that could slow American innovation.

The White House frameworkoutlines several key priorities, including:

  • Strengthening protections for children online and empowering parents with greater control over digital environments.

  • Supporting American energy dominance and streamlining permitting to meet growing AI-driven electricity demand.

  • Advancing U.S. leadership in AI innovation through regulatory sandboxes and expanded access to federal datasets.

  • Protecting free speech and preventing government-driven censorship in AI systems.

  • Developing an AI-ready workforce through training, education, and expanded opportunities.

Fedorchak serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over key components of federal AI policy, including energy infrastructure, telecommunications, and emerging technologies.

ICYMI: Fedorchak is also helping lead congressional efforts at the intersection of artificial intelligence and energy dominance as part of her AI & Energy Working Group, focused on developing a legislative framework to that will reliably, affordably, and sustainably power this growing technology.
