Leavenworth County woman sentenced for insurance fraud

Topeka, Kan. - Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, today, announced a Leavenworth County woman has been sentenced to 12 months of probation for insurance fraud.

Jennifer Walker, aged 48, pleaded guilty on July 29, 2026, in Leavenworth County District Court to one felony count of attempted insurance fraud. Following a collision, Walker misrepresented the date of the event during her auto claim to obtain coverage of loss that occurred prior to the inception of her new policy. She was sentenced on September 9, 2026, to 12 months of probation.

"Every time someone commits insurance fraud, it causes families and businesses across Kansas to pay more," said Commissioner Vicki Schmidt. "The Department will continue to hold these individuals accountable."

The Kansas Department of Insurance investigated this case which was prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General's Office.
