VTGOP Pushes Back Against Latest Attack Mailer from VT Dems
This week Vermont Democrats filed a mass media report that indicated they spent over $70,000 on attack ads for Republican candidates in a desperate attempt to tie them to the President. VTGOP Chair Paul Dame had the following response:
"In the final weeks before this important election, the contrast between Democrats and Republicans in Vermont couldn't be clearer. Vermont Democrats spent tens of thousands of dollars on a disingenuous and cringe-worthy attack ad trying to unfairly tie local Vermonters to the president. Meanwhile the Vermont Republican Party used their resources to communicate to voters about what our candidates actually plan to do as part of the Vermont Promise Plan formulated by the Senate Republicans.
For over 20 years Democrats didn't deliver on their promises for health care, education or the working class. And they never even made a promise to address affordability. Now they are hoping that a smear campaign will distract Vermonters from the fact that - despite decades of majority control - Democrats have no results from the past, and no plan for the future.
Regardless of the distractions Democrats want to create, Vermont Republicans are committed to providing the tax relief, health care reform and protection of rural lands - and more- that Vermonters expect from our state legislature. Republicans are willing to make those plans known to voters, while the Vermont Democrat Party hides behind DC-style politics that falsely attack our neighbors and good public servants.
This final desperate attack proves that Democrats have nothing of value or substance to offer voters, other than attacking the minority party. Despite being the smaller party, we intend to be the bigger people. Republicans are going to continue to campaign on our own ideas that actually move Vermont forward on issues of affordability and contrast that with the broken promises from decades of Democrat rule. That is the Vermont Way. If Democrats want to sink their money into cheap and dirty attacks that stretch the truth - then it will be up to Vermont's independent and fair-minded voters to let them know if Democrats are going the wrong way. "
Below is a sample of the mailer from the Vermont Republican Party:
This positive, policy-focused mailer was sent to over 30+ legislative districts around the state highlighting the priorities of Vermont Republicans in the next legislative session.
